The automation industry is moving toward all-in-one smart actuation. Manufacturers want compact designs, less cabling, and faster assembly. By combining gearboxes, motors, sensors, and drives into a single unit, integrated actuators reduce complexity and improve reliability. This trend helps OEMs build smaller, smarter machines while cutting time to market.

Our brand new integrated harmonic rotary actuator systems provide large-torque and high-precision rotary actuation. With the integrated design, processing and assembly techniques, it is designed and manufactured as all-in-one compact solution: i.e. high precision, backlash-free harmonic gearbox (strain wave gearbox) with integrated frameless torque motor, hollow shaft high resolution absolute or incremental encoder, brake and intelligent torque sensor.

There are four different formats available for this innovative harmonic actuator package to suit different industrial needs and applications:

  • MAH & MAT series: Hollow shaft design for space saving, cables hassle-free applications;
  • MGM series: Hollow shaft design with integrated electronics (German-manufactured high quality servodrive with Safety over EtherCAT function) for position, velocity and torque control all-in-one applications;
  • MGU series: Integrating torque motor, EtherCAT servo drive and feedback (built-in torque sensor & dual 20-bit BiSS-C encoders) within one housing, ideal for industrial automation, humanoid and advanced robotics applications.

These integrated harmonic actuator systems are widely used across robotics, industrial automation, electronics manufacturing, medical equipment, and aerospace & defense sectors. Their compact design, high precision, and all-in-one integration make them suitable for applications requiring reliable rotary actuation, space efficiency, and advanced control capabilities.

Other Features

The standard temperature range for MAH & MAT actuators is:

    • Ambient operating temperature: 0°C  … 40°C 
    • Ambient storage temperature: -20°C  … 60°C 

Optional low temperature grease to enable the actuator to operate at:

    • Ambient operating temperature: -20°C  … 40°C 
    • Ambient storage temperature: -20°C  … 60°C 

The working humidity range for the MAH & MAT actuators:

  • Relative humidity (without condensation):  20% - 80%
  • Mechanical Vibration resistance: 5g max.
  • Environmental Protection: 
    • Standard IP65; dust tight; no ingress of dust; Protect against 6.3mm water nozzle for 3 minutes at 12.5 LPM at 30 kPa at a distance of 3 meters
    • Optional IP67; dust tight; no ingress of dust; protect against 30-minute submersion at a depth of 1 meter.

The MGM standard models come with Safe Torque Off (STO) functionality, ensuring safe motor stoppage when needed. Additional safety features, such as Safe Operating Stop (SOS) and Safely Limited Speed (SLS), are available upon request. Moreover, the integrated servo drive offers Functional Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE), embedding safety functions within EtherCAT communication relays to enhance flexibility and response times. This makes it well-suited for motion control systems like robot arms and mobile robots, where safety is a critical aspect of machine design.

Our integrated harmonic gear motors can run at standard input voltage of 24 / 48VDC, 110VAC or 220VAC. The other customised winding options and a number of technical data (such as torques, speed etc.) options may be also available upon request, depending on the customers’ requirements.
