Motion Control Products' MFM series motor has a frameless design of the torque motor (also known as direct drive motor), offering a cost-effective, compact solution to achieve positional accuracy in a smaller, powerful, more reliable motor package.
With the diameters from 60mm to 145mm, it gives system designers the flexibility to specify a motor that fits into a specific performance and dimensional requirements of the application. The inputs of 48VDC or 220AC are standard, however, other DC and AC motor winding voltages options may be customised upon request.
These frameless torque motors provide an excellent torque performance with rare-earth, high-performance magnets, with the high continuous torque ranging from 0.45 Nm to 4.5Nm (peak torque from 1.61 Nm to 11Nm). The power range from 130W to xxxKW and the speed range from 105rpm up to XXX rpm.
The motors feature fully encapsulated stator windings for superior thermal and environmental performance. Its internal windings are rated for continuous duty operation up to 155 degrees Centigrade (311 degrees Fahrenheit), delivering a high reliable performance even under extreme duty and temperature conditions.
Ideal for OEM use, the range is extended by a feature enabling the rotor hub dimensions of the motors to be customised to customers requirements, and enabling machine builders to tailor the product to their applications. In these and the standard motors, the rotor magnets are protected by metal retaining bands to enable fail-safe motor operation. Further operational safeguarding is provided by integral PTC thermistor overload protection, which meets UL / CE agency compliance guidelines.
The MFM frameless torque motors provide an ideal combination with integrated brushless servo drives and harmonic (strain wave) gearboxes for a complete, fully optimised motion solution. These motors are RoHS compliant and to UL and CE guidelines in order to more easily facilitate certification in customer’s higher-level assemblies.
The flexible design and performance of the MFM frameless torque motors make them an attractive option for use in medical, metal processing/cutting, packaging, printing, aerospace, defence, and oil and gas equipment applications that demand a highly optimised and tightly integrated motion solution. The motors are also well suited for use in semiconductor and electronic assembly, renewable energy, ROV and electric vehicle applications.
